He is preceded in death by his siblings Mary Camilleri, Jean Debono and Joseph and Anthony Stellini. John passed away unexpectedly, just one week shy of his 80th birthday.
John came to San Francisco in 1950 from his native home of Mellieha, Malta. He returned to Malta where he met his wife of 60 years and together, they returned to San Francisco to start their family in 1952. Always proud of his homeland, John was active in the Maltese American community, serving as President and member of the Maltese American Social Club for many years. Upon his retirement from BART after 19 years, John loved spending time with his grandchildren, visiting Malta and going to "the Club" on Sundays. Working in his garden, watching soccer and cooking meals for his family were other favorite pastimes. John instilled in his children and grandchildren a strong commitment to family, a sense of pride of his homeland and a hard-work ethic. His spirit will be with us always, but his presence irreplaceable. We will always love you, Dad!
